The Voice of Hind Rajab

Based on true events, on January 29, 2024, Red Crescent volunteers receive an emergency call. A 6-year-old girl is trapped in a car under IDF fire in Gaza, pleading for rescue. While trying to keep her on the line, they do everything they can to get an ambulance to her. Her name was Hind Rajab.Written and directed by two-time Oscar nominee Kaouther Ben Hania, “The Voice of Hind Rajab” won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, where it reportedly received the longest standing ovation in the festival’s history. The film also received honors at the San Sebastián Film Festival, setting a new record for the festival’s highest score, the Middleburg Film Festival and the Chicago Film Festival.

American Doctor

Three American doctors volunteer in Gaza's overwhelmed hospitals. The humanitarian catastrophe they witness compels them to carry their fight far beyond the wards and back to Washington.Of Palestinian, Jewish and Zoroastrian backgrounds, they work in bare-bones emergency rooms where mass-casualty medicine, moral injury and the limits of medical neutrality collide. As their obligation to 'do no harm' takes on a new and urgent meaning, the doctors step into news studios and the halls of Congress to bear witness, challenging both medical and political frameworks for response. Deeply embedded with its subjects, American Doctor captures the moral, professional and emotional reckoning of people who have seen too much to stay silent.

The Encampments

In April 2024, a small group of Columbia University students pitched tents on the campus lawn, demanding their school cut ties with weapons companies supplying Israel’s assault on Gaza. Within days, their Gaza Solidarity Encampment sparked the largest wave of student protest in a generation.At its core, the film centers the courage and testimony of Palestinian students and their allies, whose calls for justice anchor the movement. Within that coalition, it also amplifies Jewish students and faculty who stood at the heart of the encampments, invoking the lessons of “never again” as a call to solidarity, not silence. Their presence complicates dominant media narratives that erased or maligned these voices, underscoring that the struggle for Palestinian liberation has long been intertwined with Jewish ethical traditions of justice and memory.

Where Olive Trees Weep

The film gives background to the current crisis in Israel/Palestine and brings to light the lives of people the filmmakers met on their 2022 journey in the occupied West Bank. The film offers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice.Ancient landscapes bear deep scars, having witnessed the brutal reality of ancestral land confiscation, expulsions, imprisonment, home demolitions, water deprivation, and denial of basic human rights. Yet, through the veil of oppression, we catch a glimpse of resilience—deep roots that have carried the Palestinian people through decades of darkness and shattered lives.This emotional journey bares the humanity of the oppressed while grappling with the question: what makes the oppressor so ruthlessly blind to its own cruelty?

Saturday Morning Petition Drive

This is the third year we are conducting a Petition Drive on behalf of Palestine at the Appleton Farmers Market . Every Saturday, we stand at the west end of the Market, adjacent to Houdini Plaza, from 11 am - 12 noon. So far this summer we have collected 531 signatures. Each week we send copies to Senators Johnson & Baldwin and Congressman Wied, keeping the issue in their faces for the next several months.

Our petition is not available to sign online. So please stop by and see us. If you want to help with the petition drive,
we always have extra signs to hold.

When the famers market season is over, we can regularly be seen at well - traveled intersections in the Fox River Valley.
